About Lori....
Lori's
horse experience started when she was a child with trail riding and barrel
racing. She always knew she wanted to spend the rest of her life working
with horses. She attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale,
graduating with a Bachelor s Degree in Equine Science. While attending SIU-C, Lori was President of the Equestrian Team
and Riding Club for three years. She successfully competed on the Huntseat and
Stockseat teams.
Lori's summers during college and
several years after college were spent working in different parts of the horse
industry. Some examples of her wide range of experience include
breeding management, reining, cutting, and western pleasure.
Lori currently owns and
operates Lori Nelson Training which offers lessons, clinics, and many training
options from beginner to advanced levels in all disciplines. She also
successfully shows reining horses, competing and qualifying for national
competitions and winning multiple circuit
championships.
Lori specializes in starting
horses for all disciplines and helping people communicate with their horses.
She believes that when a horse is started properly, and taught to use their mind
and body, they can go on to do anything. Lori especially enjoys working
with horses and owners, helping them to work through problems and is
able to teach both horse and owner to improve communication.
